Keep Fit With Razmo !

We at the Razmo Radio Corporation want YOU to enjoy our music and your own vigorous improvisations in the best of health and fitness.

Live music can be very exciting and if you start jumping about enjoying yourself without properly warming up then you can injure yourself.

To prevent such needless injuries why not try limbering up with our specially designed excercises before you let rip with all that improvisational musical talent!

Dr. Danns limber-up surgery:

Loosen the muscles around the head and neck.

Dann finds that gentle stretching excercises are beneficial before getting vigorous! For example...

Chest Stretch

Start with your feet shoulder width apart with your feet pointing straight forwards, place one hand over the top of the other at the lumber of your back as shown in the animation. Safety Tip! Keep your back in a neutral position, chest lifted, head in line with the spine and abdominal muscles held in. Bring your elbows gently together and this should induce a stretch across your chest. To advance the stretch, lift your hands together and away from your back. If you feel the stretch anywhere other than your chest, stop the stretch because you're doing it wrong! Hold for ten seconds and the lower the arms.

Tricep Stretch

Start with feet shoulder width apart, feet pointing forwards, back in a neutral position, abdominal muscles held in, head in line with spine, chest lifted. Position one hand behind your head, have your thumb pointing down your spine. Place your other hand on the belly of your tricep muscle, gently push the arm until a stretch is felt in the tricep. DO NOT OVER STRETCH! Hold for ten seconds then gently lower the arm, and repeat for other side.

Please note that these are very simplified descriptions and that you should always consult a properly trained instructor before undertaking such life threatening things as excercise. All excercises should be properly supervised by suitably trained personel. Razmo cannot be held responsible for any injuries sustained whilst stretching.

Cramp Avoidance for guitar players
Have you ever seen the "How To Play Bass Guitar" video by Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers? - Its great. One of the things that he stresses is how much you should warm up before launching into frantic activity if you want to avoid cramps. Play scales, slowly and gently at first, but very gently increasing in speed. He says he plays for anything up to a couple of hours before going on stage. And if you ever see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers playng live then you'll see how effective his technique must be. So do those scales, and limber up !

Upper Arm Strength.
Many musicians like to imbibe liquid alcoholic beverages to lubricate their improvisational thought processes and so require special upper arm strength with which to raise the glass to their lips, and later to lower it succesfuly back into its place balanced on top of a heavily vibrating amplifier full of high voltage valves and mains potential voltages. We recommend that you should exercise with medium weight dumb-bells and always wear non-conductive rubber wellington boots when drinking whilst operating high voltage equipment.
