The
Worryingly Insane World Of
Crazy Alien
As webmaster and editor of this site, I, Crazy Alien, get to have my very own page all to myself! Yippee!
People have asked me, why 'Crazy Alien'? Well, a long time before the creation of Crazy Alien studios, I was regularly accused of being mad. Why? - Beats me. All my plans for world domination through musical venture were rational, well thought out schemes. - Take the 'Exploding Fezz' idea for instance. I just thought that it'd be a great idea to take a fezz, fit a small tin helmet on the inside, fit a powerful stage firework above that, with a pull-string to ignite it, and you could then play a guitar solo at the end of which your hat explodes. - Fantastic! Just what I've always wanted to see at a gig!
But I was castigated as being mad. The idea was eventually dropped on grounds of possible burns and the dangers of receiving a compacted spine when the charge went off. - So with some disappointment, I threw the Fezz away in 1996.
Similarly, when I was in my first band, my idea of playing the Elvis Costello song "Pump It Up" whilst simultaneously pumping helium into an inflatable sheep on stage using a modified foot pump, (so that it slowly inflates and floats up to the ceiling by the end of the song) was rejected outright as being just too silly.
And so it went on. And then when I started experimenting with multi-track recording sometime round about 1998, and had to find a name, the title of an old 'Chooby' track, 'Crazy Alien' just sprung to mind. And so it was that Crazy Alien studios were born.
The first real projects were working with the band Mary Jane. Several Mary Jane albums were either partly recorded in the Alien, or partly mixed there, or both. The Alien likes Mary Jane and is happy to know them as musical brethren.
More recently, the Alien has joined the ranks of "Razmo Presents..." and has adopted the role of video editor and technical consultant, doing much of the live recording and studio work.
Future Alien plans include the production of "Razmo Presents..." videos on DVD and then possibly a bit of world domination...
Love, Light and Peace to all, (and warm, slightly damp tentacles), from Crazy Alien.
Oh, and here's
how many plectrums the Mystery Guitar Player has nicked off me during the last
nine years. Every one of them was dear to me and now I shall never see them
again. Damn the cruelty of fate!
